LiMa- The Düttmann Garden is back

The Markgrafenstrasse 11-14 was demolished in 2022 as a result of a speculative transaction by Norsk AG. The company went bankrupt in January 2025. Hanse Merkur Versicherung has now acquired the land on Markgrafenstrasse and will build there. There will be no side bar as envisaged in the plans of the Fischer architects.

The construction fence was erected in the Düttmann garden in 2022 for reasons unknown to us, destroying the playgrounds. Since then, the yard has been deserted. Rats and drug dealing took over. Now the construction fence has been moved again and the Düttmann Garten has finally regained its former size. A lot has been destroyed by the speculation. At least half of the trees and shrubs have lost their strength or died. The IBA had already planned a green path through Block 30 from the LiMa Wohnhof Nord in 1984. Today, in the era of climate change, this plan could be pursued again and the backyard of the southern Block 30 could be greened together. We plead for poppy fields at Checkpoint Charlie.
