Selbstbauer – Tuaregs

For K. the experience in the desert was overwhelming. We were just a bit crazy. I was Alexis Sorbas and he was the engineer who wanted to see everything rationally. He was like my brother. One night in the desert, he came to me, hugged me and told me that he loved me with all his heart.

We sat around the fire at night with the Tuaregs. You’re not allowed to fart with the Tuaregs. That’s really bad. So K. did fart. The Tuaregs laughed their heads off all night. That was certainly an experience for the Tuaregs, which they often talked about. K. understood nothing, of course. Everything touched him. It was like melting a block of ice.
