LiMa – Spekulation am Checkpoint Charlie – Berlin

On June 21, 2022, an unannounced demolition of an intact office building at Markgrafenstrass 11-14, including a historically significant industrial building fragment from the 19th century that had survived the bombing during the Second World War, began. Norsk AG Deutschland had acquired the property during the pandemic and demolished everything without further ado. A design by Fischerarchitekten from Mannheim was presented. The office project and building were to bear the name “Charles”. Nothing happened for a long time. In January, we finally read in the press that Norsk AG was insolvent. This speculative process has left a desert in our neighborhood. But perhaps we can turn this desert into a green garden!

Hansemerkur Versicherung has now acquired part of the property.
